We’re finance nerds holding the big three credentials: CFA, CPA, CFP. Together, we have over six decades of cumulative experience. But really, at our core, we are human. Just like you. We experience pain, sadness, and fear. We understand that emotions can be a big driver of financial decisions… but emotions can also lead you down the wrong path. So, we’re here to help you sort through it all to build a real, actionable, customized plan for what matters most.
What is a ?
If you said “A guy with a pocket protector”, you’re in the right ballpark. A CPA (Certified Public Accountant) is a special kind of an accounting professional. They’ve passed a rigorous exam that covers taxes, audit, economics, accounting, and law. In order to get a CPA designation, a professional must pass all four parts of the exam within 18 months (that’s 16 hours in the exam room!) and meet strict real-world work experience requirements.
Did you know? A CPA must take continuing professional education classes on a broad range of subjects (including ethics!) in order to maintain the CPA certification.
What is a ?
A CFP® (Certified Financial Planner®) is a professional who has chosen to specialize in financial planning. In order to qualify for this certificate, they must complete an educational program, take a 2-day, 10-hour exam, check off experience requirements, and pass a background check. The exam covers more than 100 topics related to financial planning (tax, retirement, estate, financial, insurance planning, and investment planning… You get the gist).
Did you know? You can only take the CFP® exam 3 times a year, and the pass rate is about 60%.
What is a CFA ®?
A CFA (or a Chartered Financial Analyst) is a professional who has passed three levels of exams covering accounting, economics, ethics, money management, and security analysis.
Did you know? The recommended study commitment for the CFA exam is 300 study hours per level! It takes most candidates 3-4 years to prepare for and complete all three levels. Only 20% of the people who start this exam complete all three levels.
How our process works...
It all begins with a free, no-obligation 15-minute conversation. Pick up the phone, fill out our web form, or send us an email — and we’ll get the ball rolling. As we get to know you, we’ll determine if we’re a good fit to work together.
The path we take from there will depend on who you are and what you need. In other words, the SurePath process is custom-built for you. (We’re not like some advisors who have a rigid process which pushes everyone into the same type of advice.)
